Gurgaon, India, February 19, 2013 —Axiom, a 1,000 person new model firm that helps large multi-national firms manage legal work more effectively, today formally announced the opening of its Centre of Excellence in Gurgaon, India. As with Axiom’s other centres, including the newly expanded Belfast centre, Gurgaon will house legal professionals serving global companies.
The centre, which currently occupies 5,500 square feet, has the capacity to house 50 employees. Axiom plans to hire a number of additional professional staff by the end of the year bringing the new space to capacity at that time. Further growth in terms of new hires and a new space, which will triple capacity, is expected into 2014.
The firm’s expansion into India has been fueled, in large part, by Axiom’s Managed Services business, which provides large, complex outsourcing arrangements for global FTSE/Fortune 100 clients. Managed Services is a nascent but thriving business that has seen unprecedented growth since its formal introduction in 2010.
“Managed Services introduces a paradigm (innovation, process orientation, performance metrics, etc.) that is entirely counter to law-firm DNA and allows our clients to break the long-standing trade-offs between cost and quality that have hindered progress in the legal sector,” said Mark Trepanier, Executive Vice President of Managed Services, Client Delivery. “Our clients are responding to this new approach to the delivery of legal services in growing proportions. In support of both our growth and our mission to consistently innovate, we seek to hire Gurgaon-based ‘Axiomites’ with a unique, hybrid business/legal background who can bring fresh ideas about the efficient delivery of legal services to our firm and our clients.”
Axiom’s new and projected hires will be just those types of professionals. Indeed, the firm continues to run counter to industry norms by building a very different operation in Gurgaon – one that is exclusively focused on undertaking complex work. As such, and unlike other legal services providers and centres in India, Axiom will be uniquely capable of providing mid- to high-level complexity support for its global clients.
“Axiom is on the same mission we have always been on – to inspire, facilitate and participate in the transformation of the legal industry,” said Mark Harris, CEO. “Our ability to innovate and transform the industry hinges on making sure that we have the right mix of people to support our growth and inspire our clients. Gurgaon, with its high quality talent pool of experienced professionals offers Axiom the perfect home to find, hire and integrate the right mix of the ‘right people.’”
