SEATTLE (October 6, 2016) – Accolade, an on-demand healthcare concierge for employers, health plans and health systems, today announced the appointment of Ivor Horn, MD, MPH as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Horn brings decades of experience that will be invaluable as Accolade continues to blend human touch and innovative technology to help people better navigate their healthcare benefits.
“We’ve taken on solving some of the biggest challenges in healthcare and we’re thrilled to have one of the most accomplished, forward-thinking leaders in clinical health joining us on this incredible journey,” said Rajeev Singh, Accolade CEO. “Ivor brings a passion for finding creative new ways to apply data, science and technology to improve what is a deeply personal experience of managing health. She has the right set of knowledge and experience to help us accelerate the expansion of our consumer health engagement platform and our business growth.”
Dr. Horn is a board-certified pediatrician and was Medical Director of the Center for Diversity and Health Equity at Seattle Children’s Hospital prior to joining Accolade. In addition to practicing as a community-based primary care pediatrician, Dr. Horn is also a NIH-funded investigator, whose research focuses on healthcare communications and health disparities with an emphasis on how social media and health information technology can be used to improve child health disparities. Dr. Horn is a member of the Academic Pediatric Association, serving in leadership positions regionally as well as nationally. She also is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
“How we interact with each other and with healthcare is transforming, and Accolade is proving this,” said Dr. Horn. “There is still a need for person-to-person engagement, but how you incorporate technology into that relationship is exciting. So much of healthcare happens outside the four walls of the doctor’s office and being able to engage patients wherever they are is immensely powerful. Accolade meets patients where they are, at the right time, with the right information to make a real difference in their lives, and in the bottom lines of organizations.”
In August 2016, Accolade closed its $70 million Series E funding round which was led by Andreessen Horowitz.
